Bangalore, India - March 7, 2012:
Wipro Technologies, the Global Information Technology, Consulting and Outsourcing business of Wipro Limited (NYSE: WIT) on the occasion of International Women's Day has joined forces with Catalyst, a leading non-profit membership organization that expands opportunities for women and business, as a founding member in India.
Sunita Cherian, Vice President-Human Resources & Head of Gender Diversity, Wipro said, "Women constitute 30% of the total talent at Wipro, today. Our focus is to support them to grow into leadership roles. We believe that good demographic diversity at every level of the organization would help Wipro be a creative, flexible and productive organization and reflect the diversity of a global environment. Our Catalyst membership reaffirms our commitment towards creating an inclusive environment within the organization. We currently run structured programs which focus on providing women the exposure, flexibility and empowerment across the various life-stages that they go through; creating more opportunity for women managers at senior levels and fostering a culture in which all employees are encouraged to achieve their full potential. The research and advice provided by Catalyst will further accelerate these initiatives and serve as a great platform for the Women of Wipro to excel in their careers."
She added, "As a part of Wipro's 'International Women's Day' celebrations, we have also launched three new employee initiatives on the theme of 'Empowering Girls'. We hope that the program, which will be run internally for employees, will help participants relate better with the challenges faced by women in society and raise awareness levels within the organization."
Wipro has extensive programs that promote the growth of women in the organization such as 'Women in Leadership', 'Mentoring for Success' and the 'Women of Wipro' (WoW) Speaker Series. Wipro has a Sustainability Council Formed with the objective of creating a dynamic and powerful 'socio-business network' which fosters a sensitive and equal-opportunity environment that allows every individual to realize their fullest potential.
