October 15, 2013 : Appirio expands 13th Annual Global Programming and Design Tournament with new cloud development competition
San Francisco – October 15, 2013 – Appirio, a global cloud services provider, today announced the lineup of keynote speakers at the Topcoder Innovation Summit. Additionally, the company has enhanced the 2013 Topcoder Open global programming and design tournament with the introduction of a new cloud development competition, an increase in prize awards and a live webcast of the competition finals.

Topcoder Open 2013 is the thirteenth annual gathering of Topcoder community members coming together to collaborate, network, and compete in a tournament-style programming and design program. It is the largest programming tournament in the world with the top one hundred qualifiers from the nearly 600,000 member community competing for more than $300,000 in cash and prizes. Featured tracks include algorithms, software development, marathon data analysis, and design. The event will take place at the Capital Hilton in Washington D.C. from November 10-14. The competition finals will be broadcast live online at http://topcoder.com/tco13.
2013 Topcoder Open Highlights
On the heels of Appirio's acquisition of Topcoder, Appirio has invested an additional $200,000 in prize money, incentives and related Topcoder community initiatives. Sponsors of the event include: Facebook, Google, Yelp, MemSQL, Pocket Gems and Two Sigma.
This year, the Topcoder Open will also include members from the CloudSpokes community and the first Cloud API Mashathon. The Cloud API Mashathon will feature both a live and virtual competition requiring developers to take multiple, randomly selected, APIs and create an innovative application in fewer than 72 hours.
In addition to the Topcoder Innovation Summit and tournament challenge, the Topcoder Open will feature more than 80 poster designs that were part of a featured design competition to capture the interest of young women to pursue Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) topics. A live audience of 100 local students and a guest panel of pioneering women in technology and education will judge the poster designs.
