The Open Source CoE in Oman is the result of a partnership between the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology of the Sultanate of Oman and Wipro Gulf LLC.
Its objective is to drive acceleration of free and open-source software in the Sultanate of Oman, contributing to generating in-country value (ICV) through capacity-building by training and skill up-gradation of graduates and to make them employable, and encouraging co-innovation together with local and regional industries (small, medium, and large enterprises).
The CoE’s goal is also to position the Sultanate of Oman as one of the most recognized focal points of open-source technology expertise in the GCC region. The CoE supports the country’s effort to achieve a national innovation-driven economy by generating in-country value, placing Oman amongst the top 40 countries in innovation by 2020 and amongst the top 20 countries by 2040.
Wipro’s IT company in Oman is working with Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology to develop solutions and services leveraging open-source technologies to enable Digital Transformation, Connected Everything / Industry4.0, Legacy Modernization, Artificial Intelligence, and Cloud-Native Architecture for different sectors in Oman including education, energy, natural resources & utilities (ENU), banking, financial services & insurance (BFSI), defense & security, transport & logistics, government, tourism, and communications.

It offers large Omani organizations the opportunity to conduct projects involving local small and medium-sized businesses with open-source technology expertise as well as skilled teams trained in the most relevant tech.
The CoE provides a window into the world of open-source technology with international expert advisors sharing their knowledge and insight throughout Oman and the region.
