Since it was founded more than 75 years ago as a vegetable oil manufacturer, Wipro has been driven by a strong sense of purpose. Our sustainability journey is inextricably linked to our core values. It began when the leadership reflected on the role of business in enhancing our communities and planet.

For the past 20 years, Wipro’s Founder Chairman, Azim Premji, and the promoter group, have pledged 66% of the economic ownership of Wipro to the Azim Premji Foundation, for philanthropic purposes.

Wipro’s Sustainability Program is based on stakeholder value creation and our programs are aligned to create value to all our stakeholders.

This has created: $29 billion endowment and sustained funding for Azim Premji Foundation's work supporting some of the most disadvantaged people.

At Wipro, we have engaged in extensive brainstorming and debates to address a fundamental question: What does business owe to society and the planet? The consensus among our leadership is clear: Business cannot operate in isolation. It must engage meaningfully with 'difficult issues,' addressing both business responsibilities and social challenges.

Driven by our core values and deep commitment to people, the planet, and communities, Wipro’s internal sustainability efforts have garnered numerous recognitions over the years. We published our first sustainability report in 2007, adhering to GRI standards. Since then, our dedication to sustainability has only strengthened.
