Challenge

The company was facing challenges in maintainability for customization and enhancement of its services. Another issue the company faced was with application monitoring. There was no proper Data Backup and Recovery plan. The company felt that they could cut some costs by optimizing their processes and moving to a better cloud infrastructure.

Adding to that, there were few performance issues and the company wanted to upgrade its security features.

Solution

The solution that Wipro provided was to migrate to Azure PaaS, as it was more convenient to maintain or update. The applications were migrated from Rackspace to Azure. We also proposed tool-based Application Monitoring and log file based issue monitoring. The solution is easy to back up and gives options for recovery.

There was low maintenance and running cost with effective component utilization in peak and off business hours. The solution had Azure Application Gateway integrated with WebApp Firewall along with Multi-layer. SQL Server Database was maintained On-Premise, which was later migrated to Azure SQL authentication.

The data migration achieved 100% data transfer. Post the data migration, all the workflow-based use-case scenarios passed successfully. All Certificate files are migrated successfully and all functionalities mapped with 100% perfection. All iPhone and Android application related files are migrated successfully keeping all integration points working fine.

Application Monitoring tools provide better application health checkup. Issues can be changed in Dev environment. Thorough testing in Staging environment leads to migration in production environment with almost Zero downtime. Switching between maintainable services within few seconds. Optimization of resources per the load through PowerShell script by writing some Rules.

Business impact

The solution provided higher scalability. It was more cost effective. It supported faster application implementation and deployment. Tracking and upgrading has become easier. The solution also improved reliability.

Considering the time complexity, performance has improved by 160%. Service invoking performance has improved by almost 150% despite five layers of security implementation. Report generation process also improved. Application availability, maintainability and scalability increased. New security features added i.e. protecting application by Azure Application Gateway with Firewall. Application performance increased through rule-based scaling-up. Dynamic scaling-out through rules. Native Mobile application performance improved significantly due to the high availability of API services.
