Challenges

The client was burdened with legacy systems that consisted of high number of customizations developed over several years to support business processes. This led to HR functions being carried out in disparate systems, resulting in:

• High operational overheads
• Complex, painstaking compensation and bonus payout cycle
• Difficulty in headcount reporting and traceability of employees
• Heavy dependency on IT team for ad-hoc reporting
  

However, these systems were no longer adequate to support evolving business needs. The client was looking for an end-to-end solution that could offer scalability, and deliver employee experience and talent retention.

Solution

Wipro migrated the legacy on-premise Peoplesoft HR applications to Oracle HCM Cloud – which covered several key HR functions such as Core HR, Payroll, Compensation, Time & Labor, Benefits and Absence Management. Wipro undertook end-to-end ownership of implementation, user training, change management and support for operations across 7 countries. Key aspects of the program included:

• 120+ interfaces, 50 Absence plans, 59 compensation plans, 40+ benefit plans, 10+ million data rows for migration
  
• Configuration of a unified system for several HR functions, leading to higher processing efficiencies
  
• Creation of a robust and scalable design with minimal customizations providing higher agility for future upgrades
  
• Easy to use, out-of-box, self-service BI reports for HR team
• Utilization of mobility features of Oracle HCM Cloud

Wipro leveraged homegrown tools and accelerators – DS Integrator, Drivemethod, data collection templates, Payroll reconciliation tool – as part of the simplified methodology for accelerated Cloud implementation. Additionally, Wipro also leveraged Oracle PaaS tools such as ICS (Integration Cloud Service) and Oracle Apex for simplified integration with other applications.
