Certification is the process of authorizing that a certain software or hardware solution/product meets explicit standards of reliability, quality and compatibility with a certain ecosystem that the solution is originally intended to be with.

Certification ensures to the customers that the solution they buy delivers superior experience while working with the ecosystem. While reducing support costs for the solution-maker, Certification also displays the makers’ concern for quality to the outside-world

Certification is generally done by an Authorized Test Authority, Independent of both the solution-maker and the ecosystem-maker.
