- Follow activities of external standardizing organizations (mainly, 1394TA, IDB Forum)

Wipro Technologies will join the COMET fraternity soon as the first system integrator of COMET Platforms. Renesas customers needing extensive system expertise on COMET Platforms can avail of the engineering and technology services offered by Wipro.
In 1999, Wipro Technologies became the second ARM-approved third party design center in the ARM ATAPTM technology access program. The ATAP agreement enables us to utilize ARM technology in the design of complex ARM processor based System-on-Chips, for customers who are existing or potential ARM licensees. Leveraging on our extensive intellectual property (IP) portfolio, systems knowledge and experience with ARM cores and technology, we target specific vertical markets with System-on-Chip solutions that meet a superset of application needs. These are predominantly low-power, high performing, consumer application devices for the mobile and internet world.
Forum Membership
Wipro Technologies is an active participant of the following technology forums with the aim of building and sharing knowledge and expertise in key technologies.
Wipro has become an associate member of the prestigious AUTOSAR (Automotive Open System Architecture) partnership.
The AUTOSAR development partnership (www.autosar.org) was formed in 2003 by the OEM and Tier1 automotive companies BMW Group, Bosch, Continental, DaimlerChrysler, Ford Motor Company, PSA Peugeot Citroën, Siemens VDO, Toyota Motor Corporation, Volkswagen and later on General Motors, who form the core partners of the partnership.
The AUTOSAR standard serves as a platform upon which future vehicle applications will be implemented and will also serve to minimize the current barriers between functional domains. Its scope encompasses Powertrain, Chassis, Safety (active and passive), Body / Comfort.
Wipro as an associate member has access to standards and documents before release to the public, thereby having the ability to provide its clients with the time-to-market advantage.
While providing services and solutions to global clients, Wipro works to maximize the usage of standards at every opportunity as we believe that a solution based on a proven standard is bound to have better interoperability, portability and reliability.
Wipro sees synergy between its own practices and the AUTOSAR objectives. The partnership will look at developing standards that can result into solutions or products that are scalable to different vehicle and platform variants, standardization of basic system functions in a vehicle, integration of functional modules from multiple suppliers, maintainability throughout the whole product lifecycle and increased use of commercial off the shelf components.
Wipro, as a service provider to Automotive Tier-1 suppliers and OEMs, will use the AUTOSAR standards during development, integration, testing of products and while providing point solutions to its clients. Wipro will also use / develop / recommend commercially off the shelf AUTOSAR compliant components in some of the projects for our clients. |
